DUOLAC, a leading probiotic brand from Korea, announced that it participated in Vitafoods Europe 2026, held from May 5 to 7 (local time) in Barcelona, Spain. At this year’s exhibition, DUOLAC operated an independent booth to spearhead the global expansion of K-probiotics.
Launched in 1997, Vitafoods Europe marks its 29th edition this year and is the world’s largest nutraceutical trade show, offering a comprehensive overview of global trends and innovations in the industry. The event attracts approximately 30,000 visitors and 1,600 companies, covering the entire value chain from raw materials to finished products and distribution. Cell Biotech has participated consistently for 25 years since becoming the first Korean company to join the exhibition in 2002, contributing to elevating the global status of Korean probiotics.
According to Cell Biotech, key trends at this year’s exhibition included women’s health and well-aging, along with growing interest in products that help prevent muscle loss and provide nutritional support to complement GLP-1-based anti-obesity treatments. A notable trend was the expansion of functionalities of existing ingredients, with probiotics increasingly applied beyond gut health to areas such as women’s health, muscle strength improvement, weight management, and cognitive support.
In line with these global trends, Cell Biotech showcased “DUOLAC Women's Probiotic” in the New Product Zone, which highlights the most innovative products at the exhibition. The product contains three CBT probiotic strains proven through a human clinical study conducted with Ewha Womans University Mokdong Hospital to improve the vaginal microbiome environment. It also incorporates a newly developed strain, ‘CBT-LR6 Feminine (KCTC 15498BP),’ isolated from the vagina of healthy Korean women. The product has drawn significant attention at the exhibition as a representative solution for women’s health.
In addition, Cell Biotech introduced its global competitiveness by highlighting its advanced probiotic development technologies and manufacturing expertise. These include ‘PP-P8,’ an innovative pipeline for colorectal cancer treatment using K-probiotics, FDA GRAS(Generally Recognized As Safe) status in the United States, production systems compliant with European Food Safety Authority(EFSA) standards, and global certifications such as Kosher and Halal.

At the core of this competitiveness is Cell Biotech’s proprietary, globally patented “Dual Coating” technology. This method encapsulates probiotics with a double layer of proteins and polysaccharides to enhance their survival rate in the gastrointestinal tract. Human clinical trials have demonstrated up to 221 times higher survival rates compared to non-coated probiotics. Leveraging this technology, DUOLAC has established its brand identity as “probiotics with superior survivability” and continues to expand its presence as a leading K-probiotics brand in the global market.
A representative from Cell Biotech stated, “Vitafoods Europe serves as a key platform to demonstrate DUOLAC’s technological capabilities and the global competitiveness of K-probiotics.” The representative added, “DUOLAC, currently exported to 55 countries worldwide, has gained new export opportunities through this exhibition. We will continue to promote the safety and excellence of Korean probiotics.” The representative further noted, “We will strengthen R&D for K-probiotics to secure a competitive edge in the global market and accelerate export expansion.”
Meanwhile, DUOLAC is a premium probiotic brand of Cell Biotech, a microbiome specialist company that has focused exclusively on 100% Korean-origin probiotics for 31 years. Cell Biotech became the fifth company in the world to achieve mass production of probiotics, laying the foundation for Korea’s probiotic industry. The company currently exports K-probiotics to 55 countries worldwide, including Denmark, Türkiye, Singapore, Indonesia, and Mexico.
